How to password protect a PDF
Payslips, contracts, medical letters and ID copies should not be readable by anyone who finds the file. Adding a password encrypts the PDF, so it cannot be opened without it.

- Open Protect PDF on PDFoxen.
- Select the PDF.
- Type a password and type it again to confirm.
- Click Protect and download the encrypted PDF.
Choosing and sharing the password
Use at least 10 characters, mixing words and numbers. Send the password a different way from the file, for example the file by email and the password by text message.
Keep a note of it. If the password is lost, the file cannot be recovered by us or anyone else.

How do I remove the password later?

Do all PDF readers support it?
Yes. Adobe Reader, browsers, and phone viewers will ask for the password.
